Starting Jan. 25, Verizon will include Mexico and Canada to Go Unlimited plan

If you’re on either of Verizon’s two unlimited plans, they are about to get better. Verizon said that the two unlimited plans can call and text to Mexico and Canada, as well as use data when visiting.

Originally, Verizon launched an unlimited plan that shook the wireless industry. Customers were signing up to take advantage of the offer. The plan became so popular and so widely used that the wireless carrier decided it was time to strip away some features and split the original plans into two different unlimited plans.

Right now, Verizon has two tiers of its unlimited plans: Go Unlimited and Beyond unlimited. Go Unlimited costs $40 a month for four lines each, and Beyond Unlimited costs $50 a month for four lines each.

If you’ve been on Beyond Unlimited plan, Mexico and Canada were already included, but for those of you with Go Unlimited plan, neither was included. Starting Jan. 25, both will now be included in this plan as well.

While Mexico and Canada will be included as an added bonus, be wary. Your usage of 4G LTE in Mexico and Canad will be throttled to 2G speeds after 500MB a day. Texts and calls are unlimited, but they won’t be if more than half of your text, talk and data usage in a 60-day period is in Canada or Mexico. If this happens, Verizon says they reserve the right to limit or remove the service automatically from your plan.
