Major US wireless carriers are working hard to roll out mobile 5G service and bring it to the market as soon as possible. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile all have announced plans to roll out the faster 5G network technology within the next few years. Reported by VentureBeat, In terms for Sprint, the company has plans to launch its own 5G network in 2019, confirmed today in an earnings call.
Per FierceWireless, Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure during the earnings call noted that his company is working with Qualcomm to launch the first “truly mobile” 5G network in the US by the first half of 2019. In comparison to other major wireless carriers, AT&T is planning to launch its 5G service in 12 cities this year; Verizon is planning to launch its 5G network in the second half of 2018; and T-Mobile unfortunately won’t plan to roll out its own 5G network until 2020.
In addition to announcing its 5G network next year, per VentureBeat, Sprint also plans to increase its unlimited 5G data price to $70 or $80, which would bring the pricing more in line with what other companies are offering.
