Apple’s upcoming iOS 11.3 update is about may bring a nifty feature that I’m sure may will appreciate. According to 9to5Mac’s findings in iOS 11.3 beta code, it hints at a single sign-on option for web-based login using your iCloud account.
At this time, it’s not entirely certain how this would work, but presumably, you may need to give websites permission to access “personal iCloud data” (which could include your name and email address) in order to take advantage of the convenience.
This won’t basically be a password manager, but you would be handing over your Apple ID and necessary information to websites and avoid having to go through log-in process repeatedly. There were also some findings in the beta where it would use your camera app to scan for a QR code and ask for your Apple ID, but at this time, we have even less information on how this would exactly work.
It’s not exactly known if this feature will even arrive in iOS 11.3. Assuming it is finished up and pushed with the 11.3 update, you can expect to have it on your Apple device in the near future. It’s worth noting that Apple has been known to push back or cut features if they aren’t finished or just didn’t make the cut into the final version. For example, Apple was expected to bring AirPlay 2 with iOS 11.2 release, but Apple pulled it and moved it to release with iOS 11.3 update.
