Apple is opening its own medical clinics called “AC Wellness,” that will allow the company more control to provide healthcare to its employees. Apple will be offering what it calls the “world’s best health care experience” to its employees (via The Guardian). The company quietly published a website for this initiative with a career page where the company is seeking primary doctors, nurses, exercise coach, “care navigator,” and on-site lab test personnel.
To start, the company will build two clinics in Santa Clara. Per the job listing, the company describes the locations as “multiple, stunning state-of-the-art medical centers.” To be specific, one is located north of its Cupertino HQ, and the other will be build inside its “spaceship” Apple Park headquarters. According to CNBC, several employees who were previously working at Stanford Health Care are already working for AC Wellness.
Apple says that it will provide a “unique concierge-like healthcare experience … enabled by technology.” It’s not surprising to see Apple go this route because the company is already heavily into the health industry with its Apple Watch health tracing. It also created its HealthKit and ResearchKit platform to help researchers and doctors in keeping track of their employee and patient health.
In addition to providing doctors, nurses and other medical staff, the company is looking to focus equally on prevention, via diet and exercise programs for its employees. Because of this, the company is also looking for “designers” who can help put together programs to help promoted healthy living.
