One of the smartphone’s missing from this week’s Mobile World Congress was Motorola’s Moto G6. Last year, the company announced the G5 at the show. While the company hasn’t announced the G6 and G6 Plus at MWC, it’s assumed the company will announce it in the coming weeks.
Motorola’s G lineup is the best value in midrange phones. While it’s of good value, we don’t have any juicy news, until now. During MWC, Motorola teased that there was something in the works and on its way, but before the official unveiling of the phone, a Moto G6 Play phone has been leaked by Taiwanese certification agency NCC, noted by TrendyTechz.
If you don’t know what “Play” is, it’s basically a name Motorola adds on to a phone’s name indicating that it has a long battery life, and that’s what it appears to be when taking a look at the pictures. The G6 Play is expected to come with a 4,000mAh battery and paired up with a Snapdragon 430 chip inside. In terms of design, the G6 Play continues to plat with the design Motorola introduced with the Moto X4.
Looking at the images, the 5.7-inch, 2:1-aspect display is a common trend in Motorola smartphones and will keep on coming in their upcoming phones as well. Some bezel has disappeared too. The screen is expected to be an HD+ (1440 x 720) screen, so there’s nothing too tech-savvy in the smartphone, which also helps it deliver a long battery life. The fingerprint reader has also been moved to the back of the phone beneath the camera because of slimmer bezels.
Some other rumors say that the G6 Play will come with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, sport a 16-megapixel camera, and come in 32GB storage / 3GB RAM or 64GB / 4GB options. The phone will come with a headphone jack (yes!) and a Micro USB port at the bottom. This is pretty much all we have until Motorola officially unveils the G6, G6 Plus and G6 Play.
