If you’re a fan of the Call of Duty first person shooter games, then there’s some news for you. Developer Treyarch announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, set in the future with zombie DLC modes, will head to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday, October 12th. The game developer announced the date in a short post on the Activision blog while at the same time teasing a “community reveal event” you should watch on May 17th.
The first Black Ops title took place in the late 1960s. The sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, jumped ahead to years 1985 and 2025. The third game, Black Ops III took place in 2065. All three games came with a “zombie mode,” which is a co-op fantasy mode in the Call of Duty series, typical launching in November, and makes it easy for a holiday gift.
We believe the reason why the game is coming out a month earlier than usual is likely due to the planned release of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 in late October, which is a high-anticipated title that could eat into Activision’s Black Ops 4 numbers. So Activision releasing the game a month early gives it time to not only generate sales but also game a decent following before Red Dead Redemption 2 rolls around.
