Despite layoffs, Motorola’s Moto Z line will continue

We heard rumors this week that there is a 50 percent reduction occurring in Motorola’s workforce and that the Moto Z will not make it through to release. Well, we have some news in regards to the future of the Moto Z.

In a statement to Engadget, Lenovo spokesperson confirmed that while there are layoffs happening, both rumors are not correct. “In late 2017, Lenovo announced a worldwide resource action that would occur over the next several quarters, and impacting less than two percent of its global workforce,” a Motorola spokesperson told Engadget. “This week’s employment reductions are a continuation of that process. We are reducing our Motorola operations in Chicago however this did not impact half of our workforce there and our Moto Z family will continue.”

We previously leaked that Motorola’s entire 2018 learned about in a series of leaks, including the next Moto Z-series devices. If the rumors become true, the handset set to release this year will feature a curved display, and be host to a lot of those Moto Mods. We will find out soon enough as to what the company has planned.
