For all you Samsung Galaxy Note fans, there’s some bad news. It appears that Samsung is no longer looking to use an in-display fingerprint sensor for the Galaxy Note 9, according to research note from KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via AppleInsider).
Last August, Kuo speculated that Samsung was trying to find ways to introduce the technology in the Galaxy Note 9. The company apparently was thinking to introduce this feature in the Galaxy S9 models, but decided to skip it by bringing a more transitional fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.
According to Kuo, Samsung is apparently delaying the in-display fingerprint sensor from this year’s models because of problems with power consumptions and the sensors not working reliably with screen protectors and other different environments. If the report from Kuo is accurate, this would leave Vivo as the only major smartphone company on the market that has in-display fingerprint technology on a phone.
