If you’re watching the IFA live right now, you’ll see that Sony just announced their new Xperia Z1 smartphone, and boy does it pack a lot under the hood. Sony has really gone all out this time to impress users, analysts and investors alike to really show what the company is all about. The CEO’s previous promise of transforming the company is proving to be true.
Since day one the information about the Xperia Z1 (Honami) leaked, the pieces that have been put together over months has built a lot of excitement. The company it seems has not disappointed folks, and with the very impressive camera, along with great accessories introduced at the IFA conference, you will totally be sucked into purchasing the Sony Xperia Z1.
Let’s start digging into what the phone is all about. A major component of the phone that many folks have been looking forward to is the camera. As per previous leaks, the Z1 does sport a 20.7 MP Exmor RS sensor, 1/2.3″ in size. Sony claims that the phone’s camera is “world’s leading camera in smartphone” with G lens branding, 27mm wide angle and generous F2.0 aperture, BIONZ for mobile ISP. The phone’s camera also includes a dedicated camera key with almost instantaneous sleep-to-snap times, and 3x clear-zoom. Best part about the whole phone is that it is completely waterproof, so you can be assured that you can take photos even under water at the swimming pool.
Aside from the camera, other specifications of the smartphone are 5-inch 1080×1920 pixels Full HD display with Sony’s new Triluminous technology, Snapdragon 800 processor in a 2.2 GHz quad-core form, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, with an added microSD slot for 64 GB more storage, if needed. Of course if you’re a photographer or you love taking picture, you will need all the storage you can get, right? The phone includes a 3000 mAh battery to last you a long day without having to worry about charging it every few hours. Sony claims 14 hours of talk time and 6.5 hours of video playback from the Z1.
To really bring out the photography passion in you, Sony also released additional photo accessories for the Z1, such as the Smart Imaging Stand IPT-DS10M, or the Smartphone Tripod SPA-MK20M.
The Z1 comes with Android 4.2 software on board. The company has also updated the PlayMemories Online app with the new All Sync option that will allow you to upload all photos taken with the Z1 without any storage limits. The phone is 4G LTE capable to upload your photos very quickly. Sony is making the phone available with in the same month as announcement today.
