We learned last year that Target had begun piloting a new service at its stores called Drive Up. The service lets customers order what they need from the Target app, pick up their purchases at a Target store and have the goods delivered right to their car. It appears that things have gone pretty smoothly for the company because it just announced that the service is now available in nearly 270 stores through the south and southeast.
Stores in Florida and Texas are now offering the service as well as select stores in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and South Carolina.
To use the service, just select Drive Up as the fulfillment option when customers order through Target’s app. You will then be notified when your order is ready for pick up, and will have a two-hour timeframe to pick it up, though orders are often ready a lot sooner than that. Tap the “I’m on my way” button when you’re on your way to the store and you can share your location with the store team so that they know when to expect you. If you don’t prefer to share your location, you can share your location status manually. TechCrunch notes that your location is not tracked once your order is complete.
Once you’re at the designated store, you will park in the designated Drive Up spots and a Target employee will bring out your order within two minutes. They will scan a barcode on your Target app to confirm your identity. You will then be required to sign and can be on your way back home with your order.
