Apple has delayed the release of Siri’s AI Evolution improvements, pushing the advanced and personalized features from 2024 to 2026, according to a statement shared with Daring Fireball. These features will make Siri much smarter, so it can work seamlessly in third-party apps and extract info from photos of documents from users.
Originally supposed to be this year, the delay is a sign of Apple’s cautious approach to complex AI. The company doesn’t usually announce product timeline changes publicly. In the past, we’ve seen delays with products like AirPods in 2016 and the white iPhone 4 in 2011.
The move has raised questions about Apple’s competitive position in the increasingly crowded AI space, where Amazon and Google are rapidly expanding their digital assistants. But Apple is committed to introducing these AI features with a focus on user privacy and a slow rollout.
Apple did introduce some AI features in the recent iOS 18 update – improved conversational interactions and integration with ChatGPT – but the full Siri transformation now looks to arrive in 2026 with future iOS updates.
