If you’ve been expecting Android P to stand for peppermint or pancake, you’re in for a little bit of disappointment. Android “P” stands for Pie, which has now officially arrived.
Now that you know what it stands for, you’re probably wondering how you can get it. If you’re the owner of a Google device, starting today, you will get the update via over-the-air update. If you have a non-Google device, you will likely have to wait a few months before you get the software update.
Google has said that those that were part of the Android P beta program (which includes devices from Sony, Xiaomi, HMD Global, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Essential) and devices that “qualify” for Android One will get the update by the end of this fall. Google says that it’s partnered with many manufacturers to give as many people as possible access to the platform, and majority of the manufacturers plan to roll out Android 9 Pie before the end of the year.
