As we get closer to Apple’s September event, iPhone 8 rumors are in full gear. According to a new post by GeenBar, who has a fair track record in iPhone leaks, suggests that iPhone 8 will be offered in three storage capacities.
The three storage options are: 64GB, 256GB and 512GB. The source states that the base model of the iPhone will be introduced at 64GB, the mid tier will be 256GB, and the highest will be 512GB.
Geekbar states that NAND storage will be sources by several suppliers, depending on the capacity. It’s expected that the 64GB and 256GB chips will be provided by Toshiba and Sandisk. For the 512GB, it will be supplied by Samsung and Hynix.
According to current report and in the past, it seems that Apple is moving in the direction to make 64GB the new standard offered in future iPhones, starting with the iPhone 7s and iPhone 8. We already see Apple offering 64GB as a starting configuration in iPads.
Apple introduced the 512GB option to the 2017 version of iPad Pros. Since they have already introduced the option there, it makes sense for them to start offering the option in the iPhone.
With improvement in technology, consumer request for increase in storage will always keep coming.
