Samsung has been looking forward to move past the Note 7 battery debacle that plagued the company and brought about a PR nightmare. Despite the Note 7 problems, the company is now turning into the right direction.
Samsung announced that more customers in the US have preordered the Note 8 than any other Notes in the past years, in the same period. At a conference in Korea, Samsung stated that they received 650,000 preorders across the 40 countries it first launched in, which is 2.5 times faster than the Note 7. Samsung has not given number for US-only sales.
Preorders for the Note 8 went live on August 24th in the US. Starting price for the Note 8 is at $930, making it one of the most expensive smartphones to date. Even though the price is high, Samsung provided some presale offers, such as choice of Gear 360 camera or a wireless charging bundle. In addition, Note 7 owners were offered a large discount for trading in their Note 7 device for a Note 8.
