Last month at MWC, Alcatel introduced five phones to everyone, and two of them are making their way to the US, they company confirmed. The first phone will be the affordable Alcatel 1X, which is the company’s first Android Go phone, featuring a version of the US that’s customized for low-performing hardware. The other phone is the dual-camera 3V smartphone. Both of these phones will be GSM-unlocked and will become available in the coming months.
At MWC, many companies had announced their support for Google’s new Android Go operating system. The OS is geared towards those phones that have low-end hardware and aimed for developing countries. For the US market, they could certain use an affordable smartphone that’s capable of running the latest apps.
The 1X is expected to retail for $100 and will be the first in the country to offer an 18:9 (5.5-inch) at the that price point. Additionally, the US edition of the phone comes with a fingerprint sensor.
The 3V isn’t the highest-end phone in Alcatel’s offering, but it does bring some nifty features. It comes with a 2160 x 1080 screen and the company’s first dual-camera setup in the US-sold devices. More specially speaking about the cameras, the main is a 12-megapixel that’s paired with a wide-angle 2-megapixel camera.
