This morning, Apple held its annual investor’s meeting on its Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, where Tim Cook provided some interesting details on what the company has in store for its future product offerings.
In the outline provided by Bloomberg, Cook said that Apple is “rolling the dice” on some future products that will set to “blow you away.” Cook went on to say that Apple’s eventual goal is to bring price reductions to the 2018 MacBook Air, currently starting at $1,200. Talking about the AirPods and Apple Watch, Cook said there’s a “long, great roadmap” of “fantastic” products in the works.
Speaking of AirPods, rumors have suggested that Apple is working on a black colored version of the AirPods that will increase several new features including “Hey Siri” support and ability to charge them wirelessly.
Cook touched on the topic of services, where he said that Apple is doing well and on its way to meeting the goal it set in 2016, which was to double its $25 billion revenue by 2020. Later this month, Apple is expected to unveil two new products in the services category, such as a new streaming TV service that has been in the works for some time. It will include original television shows and Apple’s rumors News service subscription.
On the topic of regulation against tech companies, Apple said that companies like Facebook and Google build data profiles for their users, and thus tech companies should be regulated. In October, Cook called for new U.S. privacy laws to protect citizens from data collection in October. It’s worth mentioning that Apple has been a long advocate for consumer privacy and better managing customer data.
