First spotted by Apple Insider, it seems that Apple’s Eddy Cue has had some change in responsibilities. The company executive is no longer in charge of Siri. Spotted on the company leadership page, Siri is now under the purview of Craig Federighi, who is Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering.
Eddy Cue has been running internet software and services for Apple, and has been in charge of all online services such as iTunes, iCloud, Music, and Siri for many years now.
With Apple moving into original programming, it would appear that Cue may be moving into the $1 billion investment into Hollywood programming that the company has decided to go into.
Since Federighi already runs MacOS and iOS, it would only make sense to move Siri’s responsibilities under him. Perhaps Craig can give Siri a boost and the necessary features and updates it needs to compete with the likes of Google Assistant and Alexa.
