If you happen to damage your HomePod, it’s going to be pretty pricey to have it fully repaired by Apple. It appears that repair pricing for the HomePod was posted on Apple’s website today, and the number tells us one thing for certain: purchase Apple’s warranty. Why purchase the warranty? Well, if you don’t, out-of-warranty repair from Apple will cost you $279 in the US, which makes up for 80 percent of the cost of a brand-new HomePod.
If you want to purchase Apple’s warranty for the HomePod, it’s relatively cheap compared to the price of other Apple product warranties. It will cost you $39 for two years, but there’s an additional $39 service fee for accidental damage. Two years doesn’t seem like a lot of time, but at least your HomePod will be protected.
That being said, HomePod buyers shouldn’t worry too much about their $349 device breaking easily. It’s not like an iPhone that you carry around all day and run the risk of breaking soon as you drop it on the floor. The HomePod will mostly stay plugged in and sit on your desk at home or office. Depending on how many parties or gatherings you have at your office or the number of pets and children, having the warranty in place might be a good idea, just in case. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
