Chrome will now mute auto-playing videos by default

Google Chrome’s team has heard you loud and clear. Chrome will now block auto playing videos and ads with sound by default. VentureBeat notes that this was originally supposed to have been added to Chrome 64 in January, but was delayed a few months.

With the feature finally released, it should keep most sites quiet for you when you’re browsing. If a website still manages to annoy you with an in-muted, auto-playing video, you can block its audio privileges altogether.

Auto-muting is definitely a much needed addition. While it’s a small one, it’s effective and something that many have asked for.
