Fired Google engineer files labor complaint

Recently, we reported that a Google engineer was fired over a 1-page viral memo about diversity, how men are biologically superior to women. He argues that the gender gaps at Google are the result of biological differences between men and women, and that the company shouldn’t offer programs that help under-represented groups.

According to a report from from Business Insider, former Google employee James Damore as files a complaint against Google on August 7th. The case page over at National Labor Relations Board website states that law firm Paul Hastings will represent Google. From the case page, we don’t see Damore’s name on there, but Business Insider was able to get confirmation.

So far, the details about the case are limited. What we do know is that the complaint is an allegation’s classification, which is stated as “Coercive Statements (Threats, Promises of Benefits, etc.).”

Damore previously stated that he already planned to file a complaint, claiming that Google’s upper management was “misrepresenting and shaming” him. Additionally, Damore tells New York Times that “I have a legal right to express my concerns about the terms and conditions of my working environment and to bring up potentially illegal behavior, which is what my document does.”
