In the upcoming redesign of Gmail that’s due to released in the next few weeks, there will apparently be a new feature that many will find useful, especially businesses. According to a tip The Verge received, Google is introducing a Confidential Mode that will allow Gmail senders to prevent recipients from forwarding, copying, printing or downloading certain emails.
Additionally, Gmail is adding new features that will be more appealing to business users. For example, you can set a passcode to open emails that’s generated through SMS, and set an expiration date on certain emails. These features are an addition to the already leaked list, such as different views of the email service, snooze and smart replies.
As of right now, we don’t exactly know how these features will work, but are definitely a great addition for boosted security. The Verge notes that Gmail’s restrictions on copying, downloading or printing will likely not prevent someone from taking a screenshot of an email. In addition, it’s unclear how any of these features and restrictions will apply to those that use IMAP and POP3 in their Gmail access.
