It appears that Google and Amazon may be trying to resolve their feud. We’ve already seen Google’s Chromecast back on Amazon and now it appears that Fire TV owners that were set to lose YouTube access may not lose it after all. A Google spokesperson told The Verge that both companies are engaged in “productive discussions” in hopes that both parties reach “an agreement for the benefit of our mutual customers.”
Amazon started to turn things around by bringing back Chromecast back to their platform, so it’s safe to assume that Amazon could have potentially started the peace talks. This agreement, should it be reached, would keep YouTube on Amazon’s streaming services.
Google is now trying to respond in kind when Amazon brought back Chromecast. Fire TV is one of the most popular devices for Amazon and losing YouTube, a widely used platform, would hurt many Amazon customers, and would damage its business. Google may not cancel its previous plans of pulling YOuTube from FIre TV and Fire TV Stick starting January 1st, 2018. The search engine giant has already previously removed YouTube from Amazon’s Echo Show.
