Hulu is now rocking 17 million subscribers

Hulu is another streaming provider that’s in the realm of competing with the likes of Netflix. Today, Hulu announced that it ended 2017 with over 17 million subscribers. This is a whopping 40 percent growth compared to the stats the company released for 2016.

The jump by 40 percent is definitely significant and tells us that the streaming service closed 2017 on a high note. It’s worth mentioning that the service started the year off with two Golden Globes for its original The Handmaid’s Tale. The show also got Hulu 10 Emmys in September and was one of the service’s top three watched dramas last year.

One of the biggest reasons why Hulu has done very well in 2017 is because it had a lot of content added to its lineup in 2017 including the entirety of Futurama, several 90’s throwbacks and several selection of NBC favorites like Parenthood and 30 Rock. Right now, Hulu’s library holds about 1,700 TV titles and 75,000 episodes in total. Hulu also launched a Live TV service, which definitely helps to attract more subscribers.

CEO Randy Freer in a statement said, “The year ahead is going to be even bigger, as the company invests more in content – live, library and original – as well as technology and data to make Hulu the leading pay TV choice for consumers.”
