Last June, LG launched its mobile payment system in South Korea. According to Yonhap News, LG Pay is finally making its way to the United States. LG is reportedly planning to bring its mobile payment system sometime during the first half of this year and may even launch under a new name called LG Wallet.
What’s more interesting is that Android Police even spotted an LG Wallet app in the Play Store a few days ago, but the app has since been removed. While LG may be bringing its mobile payment system to the US, the company is still behind other competitors like Samsung and Apple.
Samsung released its mobile payment system in 2015 and is currently available in 21 countries. Apple Pay on the other hand is supported in 25 countries and regions. The third competitor, Android Pay (now Google Pay), is available in 17 countries.
LG will be bringing its payment system to the G7 and V40 premium phones in the US. For those of you who are rocking mid-range LG phones, the company plans to expand the payment system to mid-range phones next year.
