Earlier this week, Epic Games announced cross-play and cross-progression between the PlayStation 4, Mac, iOS, and eventually the Android when it’s released. From the list, Microsoft’s Xbox One was missing, and the company hen revealed last night that it will support cross-play on Fortnite for Xbox and that it will become available in the future.
Unfortunately though, it appears that cross-play won’t happen between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. On Twitter, Epic Games’ Nick Chester revealed that Xbox One players will only be able to play Fortnite with PC, Mac, and Mobile players, and PlayStation 4 players will also only be able to play against PC, Mac, and mobile players.
We now have a clear understanding that PS4 vs. Xbox One Fornite cross-play will not be supported, despite the fact that there are no technical reasons that it can’t work Last year, Epic Games briefly enabled cross-play where PS4 and Xbox One gamers were able to play against each other, but it was due to a “configuration issue.”
Xbox One players can play with PC, Mac, and mobile.
PlayStation 4 players can play with PC, Mac, and mobile.
