Tesla has been targeted by Porsche, first taking a swipe at the Model S, X and 3 last week, the German automaker just unveiled the Mission E Cross Turismo SUV (Porsche calls it a CUV, a cross utility vehicle). This is Porsche’s answer to compete with the Model X.
At this time, while we don’t know much about the crossover, the German automaker said that they’re investigating putting the car into production. The SUV and crossover markets continue to grow, it would make sense for Porsche to bring this car into production and hit the showroom after the Mission E hits the road.
The Cross Turismo, like all Porsches, will be very quick. The crossover has two electric motors, all-wheel drive, 600 hoursepower that will go from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 3.5 seconds. By comparison, the P100D Model X goes from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds.
The electric SUV market continues to grow with the lines of Model X, I-Pace and now the Mission E Cross Turismo. These types of vehicles are great for those going fast moments, but there’s also enough room to take all the kids to soccer practice.
