Once again, Microsoft is bringing its own custom version of Samsung’s Galaxy S9. You can find the handset available in the Microsoft Stores in the US, and the handset will shot with some customizations from Microsoft. “A Microsoft customization is applied to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus Microsoft Edition when the devices are unboxed and connected to Wi-Fi,” says a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to TrustedReviews.
How exactly is Microsoft’s edition of the S9 different from others? Well, it include Microsoft apps like Office, OneDrive, Cortana, Outlook and all are bundled on the device. The company’s popular Launcher doesn’t appear to come preinstalled either.
Microsoft is calling the Galaxy S9 a “Microsoft Edition,” in a statement to The Verge, Samsung has previously said that there’s no such edition. “There is not a ‘Microsoft Edition’ brand of any Samsung Galaxy products,” said a Samsung spokesperson in a statement. “Microsoft offers Samsung Galaxy devices configured to showcase Microsoft’s productivity applications including Office, OneDrive, Cortana, Outlook and more.”
