Lowe’s Home Improvement has formed a partnership with Bixby as its retail partner on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. Both flagship phones were officially released yesterday. The partnership will allow Lowe’s to offer its products through the Bixby Vision service, which allowed consumers to purchase them online after the artificial intelligence assistant identifies them.
Practically speaking, users will be able to scan object and add them to their virtual shopping carts if Bixby successfully manages to recognize them and identify a retail partner that sells them. Originally, the augmented reality shopping service debuted on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus last year and new partners are always being added to the ecosystem.
While the partnership was announced for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus, owners of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 can expect the same functionality on their smartphones too, as well as all future smartphones the company releases that run Bixby. Other companies such as Walmart and Sam’s Club have already partnered with Samsung and Bixby to integrate their inventories. Not to mention Samsung has also partnered with CoverGirl and Sephora to support its Bixby Makeup feature, allowing consumers to “try out” cosmetics in augmented reality while they decide which product ot buy.
