For you Samsung fans out there, the company has some interesting news for you. Samsung’s much-rumored foldable smartphone that’s been talked about may launch as soon as next year. The company showcased its first display prototype, Youm, in 2013.
Samsung is now trying to get the foldable technology out to consumers. The company said that a foldable Galaxy Note 8 “could” launch next year. We say “could” because Samsung president Joh Dong-jin said that there are still many hurdles to go through before the technology can be introduced in consumer products.
“I can say our current goal is next year. When we can overcome some problems for sure, we will launch the product,” Don-jin speaking at the Galaxy Note 8 conference.
Introducing interesting new technology such as foldable devices could prove to be revolutionary, but the company should avoid introducing anything until it’s thoroughly tested everything. After going through the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, the company can’t really afford to have another PR nightmare.
