Snapchat has reinstated Giphy stickers integration after being removed for having racist GIFs

If you remember from last month, both Snapchat and Instagram removed their Giphy stickers integration from their apps because users discovered a racist GIF with a slur. Giphy at the time said that it had removed the GIF in question and fixed the bug that allowed it to go through. The service also said that it would be reviewing all of its GIF stickers manually to make sure nothing unacceptable goes through.

Last week, we learned that Instagram had reinstated its Giphy stickers and now, Snapchat has decided to flip the switch on it too by reintroducing it.

A Snapchat spokesperson told TechCrunch that it worked with Giphy to boost its moderation efforts and that it was content with the changes the service had implemented following the previous issue. Giphy previously said that it had reviewed all of its GIFs four times, and added that it would be reviewing any new GIFs submitted moving forward.
