Tesla’s new navigation system is expected to roll out this weekend

Tesla’s upcoming overhauled navigation system is being teased by Elon Musk. Per Musk’s tweets today, Tesla’s new navigation system should be rolling out this weekend. He said that it won’t be fully installed, calling it a “mature beta” but has promised the system would “improve rapidly.”

Instead of making improvements to the existing system, Tesla chose to go with a full overhaul of the maps system, calling it “Tesla Maps.”

Per Electrek, this new system will have a much smoother engine and provide a lot more zoom power. Additionally, the Tesla Maps will have a brand new routing engine. At this time, we don’t exactly know what different will be between the current and new system, but Tesla drivers have previously complained a lot about poor and inefficient routes.

Last December, Musk touted that Tesla Maps would be “a major navigation overhaul” that’s “light years ahead” of the current system in its vehicles. Given that the company is touting the new navigation system quite a bit, it will be interesting to see how everything improves for Tesla drivers.
