Facebook’s Oculus Go, the standalone VR headset, is now available for purchase. The headset offers mobile virtual reality without needing a phone or PC, and is going on sale starting today in 23 countries. The base Oculus Go will cost $199, comes with 32GB of storage, and the higher version comes with 64GB storage and will sell for $249.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has called the Oculus Go “the easier way to get into VR.” The headset offers a good VR experience, but will not be as advanced as what you’d come to expect from the Rift, but of course there’s more appeal here since it’s self-contained, wire-free and a lot more affordable than other VR headsets on the market.
While you can purchase it from Facebook, it’s also available from a mixture of online and physical retailers including Newegg, Best Buy and Amazon, if you live in the US.
