Fans of Star Wars can rejoice because the first trailer for Star Wars: Episode 9 has arrived. The trailer provides some details about the final installment of the Skywalker saga from a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. The movie’s full name is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The trailer opens with Rey (Daisy Ridley) holding a lightsaber in her hand in a desert as TIE Fighter speeds towards her. She launches herself upwards to flip herself into the root of the starfighter. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is also in the trailer with some Stormtrooper fighting through a forest. There’s also a welder repairing the helmet Ren destroyed in The Last Jedi and small glimpse of few other characters, including returning Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams).

Also in the trailer is a panel, where director JJ Abrams said Episode 9 starts some time after the events that took place in The Last Jedi. He said it was “an adventure that the group goes on together.” Addressing late Carrie Fisher’s appearance in the film, he said they used footage cut from The Force Awakens. “The idea of having [Princess Leia as] a CG character was off the table,” he said

When Does It Come Out?

Star Wars: Episode 9 is set to hit theaters later this year on December. The movie will eventually be available to stream alongside the rest of Star Wars saga through Disney+ streaming platform.
