If you’ve been waiting for Amazon Prime Video to land on your Apple TV, you don’t have to wait any longer. The Amazon Prime Video app is now available for the Apple TV. The app has approved after Apple CEO Tim Cook said that it would land on the Apple TV “later this year.”
Aside from landing on the Apple TV, the iOS app has also been updated to 5.0. It includes support for the iPhone X and universal search. To get it on your Apple TV, it requires an Apple TV 3rd generation or later.
Amazon Prime Video native app comes into the lot where similar apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services exist. Previously, if you wanted to play Prime Video, you had to use the AirPlay feature while connecting another Apple device. The new native app on the Apple TV provides a much better and smoother viewing experience for all.
It’s also worth mentioning that previously, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos refused to sell Apple TV on Amazon unless Amazon’s Prime Video app could be installed on the platform. “We want our player, our Prime Video player, to be on the device, and we want it to be on the device with acceptable business terms,” said Bezos at Code Conference 2016. So you should also see Apple TV being sold once again on Amazon.
It’s interesting to see this perspective because much like the feud with Apple, Amazon is going through a feud with Google too.
