California’s passing of the new net neutrality law isn’t sitting well with industry groups that represent AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Verizon, among others. Industry groups have now joined the Justice Department over the state’s passing of the new net neutrality law.
Per Reuter, the groups said that the legislation is a “classic example of unconstitutional state regulation,” and have asked the court to block the law before going into effect on January 1st, 2019.
If you have not kept up with what new law passing by California, the state Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 822 into law on Sunday, restoring some key net neural its protections in the state. As soon as the state passed it into law, the federal government quickly followed and sued the state.
US Attorney General Jeff Sessions has claimed that the “legislature has enacted an extreme and illegal state law attempting to frustrate federal policy.” This case is set to be heard on November 14th in Sacramento.
