Google has finally announced that their next Android version – previously known as Android O – will now be officially referred to as Android Oreo (delicious!). The company is continuing its brand name choices in according to their previous choices.
Unfortunately for Google, when it comes to “O,” there aren’t a lot of “o” desserts food out there. The company picking Oreo is a great choices since it’s a very beloved cookie.
Much like everyone other version of Android, the company also took the wraps off its new Android Oreo statue. At the press event, Google unveiled a Android Oreo superhero-themed statue that was wearing a cape.
Google’s choice also makes sense since it’s previously teamed up with Nestlé and Hershey’s for Android 4.4 KitKat. The company teaming up to use Oreo makes perfect sense.
In terms of rollout, the company will rollout OTA to Pixel and Nexus devices first. Carrier builds are being tested right now.
