It appears that the island of Puerto Rico is experiencing power grid issues and remains unstable. According to the Associated Press, the island is experiencing another full blackout. The power company is currently investigating the cause behind the blackout and estimates that it will take between 24 to 36 hours to restore power.
The island of Puerto Rico continues to face issues, especially a financial crisis that existed even before Hurricane Maria hit. The island only has one electric company, and it was $9 billion in debt and utilizes old, outdated infrastructure and equipment.
After Hurricane Maria, the island sank deeper into devastation. One solution was to take the power grid private, and this is when Elon Musk and Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello held a meeting to talk about rebuilding the island’s power grid with batteries and solar systems. Tesla began efforts last year.
