The Oppo N1 just went official in Beijing’s Oppo event, and it’s quite the impressive smartphone. These days, all you hear about is iPhones and Androids that smaller companies don’t get much spotlight. Well today, I will introduce you to the new Oppo N1 smartphone. It is sure to impress you, like it has impressed me.
Let’s not waste time and get right into it. Oppo has been teasing us about the N1 for quite some time now, and finally it’s been unveiled. There is a lot packed under the hood, and the exterior isn’t like what you see these days. The company has dared to go where even the most popular companies are not yet willing to go, which is one of the reasons why the Oppo N1 is very unique in it’s own way.
Lets start off by discussing the design of the Oppo N1. The smartphone boasts a 5.9-Inch 1080 display at 377 PPI, a backside touch panel (which is for scrolling and taking photos), and one of the most visibly unique feature, the flip-able camera that does over 206 degrees. Why is this impressive, even though the THL’s W11 beat the Oppo N1 to the punch with flip-able camera? it’s all about the quality of the smartphone, the camera, and over all build. The company has stated that the Oppo N1’s camera has passed a 100,000-time rotation test, which works out to be seven years of usage if you rotate it at 40 times a day. Not impressed? The company has also tested the camera in over 100 scenarios, which is now industry leading. Additionally, there is a CMOS sensor inside, wide f/2.0 aperture, and a specially designed Fujitsu imaging chip.
Now that we have looked a little over the design, let’s talk about what’s under the hood, the hardware. The Oppo N1 comes with a 1.7GHz quad-core APQ8064 (Snapdragon 600). Other features include Adreno 320 graphics, 2GB of RAM on board, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. You don’t have to worry about battery life because of the 3610mAh battery inside.
Lastly, lets discuss the software. On board is Android 4.2 with Color OS, a custom skin made by Oppo. The N1 should also be able to run stock Android thanks to Cyanogenmod, a recent officially announced company.
By the looks of the design, internal hardware and software, the company has spared no expensive in bringing a top-notch smartphone to consumers.
As for the price, the Oppo N1 can be purchased for CN¥3,498 or about US $570. The options are 16GB or 32GB internal storage. Full availability is set to go live in October, however those customers on China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network, you can pre-order the device now.
