5:30 PM – Like any product launch, there are bound to be some problems that rise. It isn’t necessarily always the company’s fault, problems occur in the production line and some things get overlooked. This happened to both Sony and Microsoft with their respective console launches, and now Microsoft has come out with a tender deal to those affected by bad hardware.
According to a new report from Polygon, Microsoft is offering a free game to those individuals affected by bad hardware that came right out of the box. Right after the launch, reports by customers started popping up telling others that there were issues with the Xbox consoles they purchased. There was physical damage on some consoles, some didn’t even turn on, and some had bad CD drives. There were plenty of reports showing up.
Xbox customer care has notified those affected by email that the company will offer them a free game of their choice, from four different titles. The four titles that are for free are: Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome and Zoo Tycon. The customer would be allowed to digitally download the game for free.
In a statement, Microsoft states that “while a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game.” Continuing, the company says that “we will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios.”
What are your thoughts? Microsoft doing it right?
