Do you want to up your microSD card game up to 1TB? Well, you will definitely be able to do it in the near future. Micron and Western Digital have unveiled 1TB microSD memory cards that will let users access some serious storage options.
Western Digital’s microSD card brand, SanDisk, is an industry leading company that offers incredible options and power with their microSD card options. The company’s model packs 160 MB/s read speeds as opposed to 100MB/s that Micron offers. Micron, on the other hand, features latest 96-layer 3D quad-call QLC NAND technology, and can write a bit faster with speeds of 95 MB/s compared to its rivals that offer 90 MB/s.
The price is what we need to discuss. If you want to have 1TB storage options for your mobile or other devices, the 1TB SanDisk Extreme UHS-I microSD card will cost $449.99 and arrive in April. This is more than double the price of 512GB model, which costs $200.
Currently, we don’t know the price of Micron’s 1TB microSD card, but it’s expected to go on sale in the second quarter of 2019. A company spokesperson also confirmed the card will be “priced competitively.”
Both microSD cards are A2 certified, which means they are able to be swapped in and out with compatible smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S10 that was recently announced at MWC 2019.
