Samsung Galaxy S10E: The ‘value’ option for all

Meet Samsung’s Galaxy S10E (compact option), the bigger model that will cost you about $1,00, and was unveiled at Samsung’s event today. The company is celebrating its 10th anniversary of Galaxy S series by going big and they have really brought it for all.

The Galaxy S10E (compact) model brings you a compact screen that still offers a lot. It’s shorter and thinner than last year’s Galaxy S9 model. You’re likely thinking of a comparison to Apple’s XR model and I don’t blame you because this is essentially the same type of option, the “value” option to the standard Galaxy S10 and above.

For the cameras, the Galaxy S10E only offers two rear cameras, differentiated from the Galaxy S10 and S10+. The two cameras offered are wide and ultrawide sensors, but there is no telephoto option. In the front, there’s only a single 10-megapixel selfie camera much like the baseline S10 model.

With the Galaxy S10E model, you lose the “curved” screen that’s offered on the other model and is flat. It does, however, come with an in-screen fingerprint reader, and Samsung inserts a sensor into the power button on the right side of the phone (yes, it works well).

As far as configurations go, the Galaxy S10E is offered in two options: 128GB with 6GB RAM or 256GB with 8GB RAM. It also offers Gorilla Glass 5 in the front and back. There’s also support for microSD cards.

For the battery, Samsung is bringing a 3,100 mAh size that’s a lot smaller than other configurations, but hey, the phone itself is smaller too. In addition, the phone still comes with the Snapdragon 855 chipset like the other S10s.

Lastly, the Galaxy S10E (compact) offers the following color options: Flamingo Pink, Canary Yellow, Prism Green, Prism Blue, Prism Black, and Prism White. Unfortunately, if you’re a US buyer, you will not have the option to get the Canary Yellow and Prism Green. Color options will vary depending on the region in the world.
