Sprint Spark gets activated for Chicago customers

sprint-spark25:15 PM – Sprint in recent months announced that it plans to release a new advanced service called “Sprint Spark.”  This new services promises to offer fast data speeds, improves voice experience, better indoor penetration of signals, and better capabilities in high traffic areas for all Sprint customers.

Sprint customers in Chicago should rejoice.  Sprint Spark has been turned on for customers in the Chicago area.  You must have a Sprint Spark capable device in order to take advantage of the improvements.  Devices such as LG G2, Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, Galaxy S4 mini, HTC One Max and even the Nexus 5 have the ability to take advantage of Sprint Spark.  The devices may support the feature, but may require a software update to unlock the capability.

How does Sprint Spark work exactly?  Taking advantage of three different LTE bands, and paired up with this advanced technology, the circuits inside the phone decide very quickly which of the three bands is best suited to what you are using the phone for.  This has many different benefits to it, such as less network congestion on one band and splitting up services in three bands helps the servers work faster and efficiently.

“Sprint’s investment in upgrading our network infrastructure has required a massive team of dedicated engineers and technicians to systematically install new, modern 3G and 4G LTE-capable equipment. This process involved equipping Sprint cell towers in the Chicago area with state-of-the-art network technology. It took us more than a year to complete and, although there have been some service interruptions, we expect our customers will find the improved Sprint wireless experience worth it.” – Bob Azzi, Chief Network Officer, Sprint.
