With Apple’s iPhone 5S announcement to occur in under a month, the time to sell your iPhone is now. According to the CMO of NextWorth, Jeff Trachsel, the iPhone values decline by 15% to 20% in the 6 week period prior to the launch of the next Apple iPhone. Take a look at the graph below.
As the date gets closer for the company to make the new iPhone announcement, the value of your older iPhones will start to go down. Currently, iPhone 5’s are going for anywhere from $350 to as much as $500. The iPhone 4S pricing is normally around $300 or so now. As for the iPhone 4, it usually goes for $200 these days. Most of these pricing that I’m mentioning are from eBay and Craigslist.
You could also head over to Best Buy to trade in your device and get yourself a Best Buy gift card that will contain the money you could use to upgrade to the newer iPhone. Best Buy is always accepting trade-ins, as I myself traded in several devices in order to get my iPhone 5 out-of-contract.
One thing to note is that if Apple does indeed announce the iPhone 5C, which so far it seems like they will, the value of previous iPhone may drop even more. So don’t waste time and start selling off your old iPhones to save up for newer one.
