Over the weekend, Toyota executives told CNET that Toyota executives are making the decision to slowly phase out the Prius C. Unfortunately for the model, it wasn’t one of the biggest driver of sales.
First introduced to the market in 2012, the smaller and easier-to-get around Prius C has a modest price tag and look. If you’re interested in purchasing something similar to the Prius C, you will have to opt in for the full-size Prius or the Prius Prime, or even going with something like the 2020 Corolla Hybrid.
The 2019 Prius C offers great efficiency to buyers, such as 48 miles per gallon in the city and 43 miles on the highway, with a combined 46 mpg. It’s worth mentioning that the Corolla Hybrid should beat those numbers fairly easily, even though it’s bigger and heavier than the Prius C.
In a statement to the Roadshow, Ed Laukes, group vice president of Toyota Marketing, said, “The Prius C has served its purpose well and probably down the road you’re not going to see the Prius C.”
