8:05 PM – Prepaid carrier Virgin Mobile is always looking to attract customers. This time around, the company has decided to add another smartphone to its line up, with a slight twist.
The company has announced that it start carrying the HTC Desire (601 model) immediately. What’s more interesting is that the smartphone is priced at $279, which is quite the affordable price range in the prepaid world.
The HTC Desire features a 4.5” qHD Touchscreen Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 5.0 MP Rear Facing Camera w/ HD Video Capture, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor featuring dual-core, 1.4 GHz processor, 4G LTE, Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with HTC Sense,, Li-ion 2100mAh Battery, Wi-Fi & NFC capable, Bluetooth 4.0, 1 GB RAM, 8GB on-board storage, and MicroSDTM slot for expandable storage up to 64 GB (card not included). Additionally, included is Experience-enhancing features such as HTC BoomSound™, HTC BlinkFeed™, HTC Zoe™, Video Highlights, and much more.
For the price that Virgin Mobile is asking for the phone, this seems like a very reasonable deal for those interested in getting service in the prepaid world. One thing you should note is that Virgin Mobile is a CDMA operator, so you will be stuck on its network and no chance of bringing your phone to another carrier.
Virgin Mobile’s plans start at just $35 per month all the way up to $55 per month. You also have the option of getting your plan’s pricing cut by $5 per month just by signing up for AutoPay (iPhone exclusive).
